[REPOST] Sync not starting/working
As my topic was somehow deleted:
I´m trying to run Sync, but it wont start normally!
It starts when I use the exe in app-1.2.7/resources/bin, but that won´t login!
When I try to start the normal sync.exe in the cmd, output is:
Sync Version 1.2.7
And after that nothing more!
Tried it also with deactivating my Anti-Virus (Kaspersky), that did not work either!
My VC versions are all up2date and checked!
Currently Sync is starting after boot, but still can´t login!
Hi, apologies for loosing your post, we had some technical difficulties with the forum but they're all resolved now..
Once it prints "Sync Version x" it's supposed to search for the embedded Sync client and tell you where it's located.
It's very weird that it stops there. I'm investigating!
Regarding not logging in when running from the resources\bin folder - that's strange, do you mean that you cannot login on the website in general or that your website login does not transfer to the client?
I can login on the website, or am already, but it seems it does not get transferred to the client!
EDIT: FYI I´m using Chrome
A little update:
After some thinking and trying I found out that Sync works with my Edge browser and is recognized by it, so that problem is on Chrome!
But didn´t solve the abnormal installation and start behaviour with the normal exe, still using resources/bin/sync.exe!
Tried to update Sync via website and client (still using the resources\bin\sync.exe), got an error that a file could not be found! Didn´t say which file or where!
For updating the resources\bin client you will need to use the official package instead of running it embedded from the modern Sync client.
We're preparing new releases in the 1.3.0 range, will give you links once available, hope we can fix the modern Sync client launching too...
Will this be as a new installer? Update seems to be already available through sync, but installer on website is still in 1.2.0 range!
@Rall3n the 1.3 builds have been released yesterday.
The setup executables are a bit longer cached than the updates themselves, so they might still point to 1.2.

If this still fails perhaps it's better if we setup some sort of debug appointment :)
The new setup no longer comes with the resources\bin\sync.exe.
If you're stuck with a broken Sync, please delete Appdata\local\syncbeta (if you have it), and then use the legacy setup: http://withsix-cdn.azureedge.net/software/withSIX/drop/sync/beta/Sync-Setup.exe
this will then also allow you to follow updates..
Preferably we figure out what's going on though :)
Thanks to that 1.3.1 installer, I finally have an error message after installation!
node_modules\electron-edge\lib\native\win32\ia32\6.1.0\edge_nativeclr.node not found in C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Sync\app-1.3.1\resources\app.asar
@Rall3n very strange, it would seem some of the VC redistributables are not properly installed,
could you please try installing them from:
If it starts working it would be great to know which one is the one that helped, I would guess it to be the first link (VC2015).
Strange enough the VCRedistInstaller we've included should automatically fix this all up..
@Sickboy None of the links worked on me, BUT:
I used the legacy setup of sync to install the beta and it worked!
@Rall3n glad to hear you at least have a workaround. I would love to figure out what's going on though, because I fear this is affecting more users, and it's very strange. Would we be able to get into contact privately for perhaps a remote testing session?

@Sickboy As I´m using Win10, I have no idea if this particular update has been installed!
I will look for an win10 installer (or try the 8.1 one) and will give you the results!
EDIT: Because I use Win10, and the kb2999226 is bringing a win10 feature to older versions of Windows, I should have the features installed and running!

You're right when you're running Win10 then you don't need it..
We've improved the installer again to hopefully address the requirement issue:
